Description

A place to study the best butterflys anywhere

Deyrolle was originally a taxidermy shop that was established in the 19th Century by Jean-Baptiste Deyrolle, a well-known entomologist of his time. Until a fire struck this fascinating shop and museum in 2008, collections included boxes of beautiful butterfly collections and many animals.

After the fire Deyrolle lost a great portion of all their animal collections. People were so moved at the loss that donations poured in from all over the world to replace collections. A French woman donated 50 boxes of butterflies, artists donated their works, and "new animals" have been moving in over time.
