The iconic structure of La Défense is the Grande Arche, a cube-like marble arch built in the 1980s. This structure marks the western end of the axe historique (historic axis), though its alignment is slightly off due to the intentional design of Danish architect Johan-Otto von Sprekelsen. Visitors can take a lift to the top of the arch for breathtaking views, and there is also a museum with temporary photography exhibits. This museum is included in the rooftop visit.
