Description

In 1956, the Memorial to the Unknown Jewish Martyr was established and has since become the Memorial of the Shoah – a Hebrew term for ‘catastrophe’ which symbolizes the Holocaust in France. Inside the museum are various exhibitions exploring the Holocaust, the German occupation of certain areas in France, and the occupation of Paris during WWII. A wall inscribed with the names of 76,000 people who were deported from France to Nazi extermination camps stands at the entrance of the memorial, honoring the victims of the terrible tragedy.
