Description

A well-known square and plaza in Paris

Place des Abbesses is a triangular shaped square that is widely known for its art-nouveau metro station. The familiar entrance to the station was designed by Hector Guimard. This gentle curving mass of iron is one of two original Art Neuveau canopies left in Paris.

Of course, the metro canopy is not the only thing Place des Abbesses is known for. These days visitors may stroll along romantic streets that are lined with sidewalk cafes, chic restaurants, and hip boutiques. It's a very trendy area, but if you aren't into shopping, it serves as a great spot for people watching.
